2023: A Good Start

For the Gilded Gosling, which means us, we have a lot to be grateful for and a lot to look forward to being grateful for. We had a busy, productive, hectic 2023. We learned to create a website, edit it, and fill it with words, pictures,  videos, and opinions. We made social media pages and faux pas. We’ve learned photography and videography, to varying degrees of proficiency. More importantly, we’ve learned a thousand ways not to do all of those things.

We have visited many new places, from Europe to Arkansas, and in between we’ve been to Ontario, Niagara, Denver, Panama, Costa Rica, and Puerto Rico, not to mention many places closer to home. It has been a good year, full of experiences we relish in the memory of. Sharing these travels with our daughter has been exceedingly rewarding, even though she is often less enthused about some aspects of airport layovers than we are.

Changing jobs, moving to a new city and state, moving into our first home, and starting to sell merchandise have filled out the gray areas between trips (Yes, this is a shameless plug for you to check out our awesome mugs and decals!). Life doesn’t stop when you’re half a world away, and so much has been going on in the lives of our friends and family.

You can only look in the rear view mirror for so long before you have to focus on the road ahead again. In the near future we have our first half marathon in Indianapolis, at night, in January. Hopefully that is the start of a trend of running in great places, living out our motto of traveling more and traveling better. Later this month we will be in Seattle and Olympic National Park, seeing if we can find any vampires. That’s a Twilight joke for those cool people who haven’t read the books. There are a few more trips booked already and a lot more learning and editing to do, so we plan to begin to blog about it all more frequently. It is our hope that we can be helpful by pointing out useful things people can do or use to travel more, and travel better.

Waddle On,

~ Charles and Heather
